Introduction
The club was formed
on the 12th January 1994 with a membership of 14, of those 14 original members two are still members, one of which still takes an
active part in running the club.
Membership
now stands at 53, which unfortunately is the maximum we are allowed
in the
premises that we have.
A club for
woodturners of all abilities who meet to discuss their interests, exchange
ideas and to further the craft. Each month an evening meeting is held ,
usually with a guest demonstrator. In addition there are two all day
"hands on" sessions in a month when members can use the various
club lathes and equipment.
A quarterly magazine "Woodword" is distributed to each member.
Location
The club premises are at the rear of Kegworth Community Centre off The
Dragwell, Kegworth in North Leicestershire (See Location Map) near
Junction 24 of the M1 motorway.
Membership
Members come from all over the East Midlands. Numbers are
restricted by the capacity of our premises but anyone wishing to join
should contact the Secretary to see if vacancies exist. The club actively
supports local shows and craft fairs as well as attending national shows.
We are associate members of the A.W.G.B (Association of woodturners
of Great Britain)
Equipment
The club has several lathes of
different sizes and capabilities a piped dust extraction system, band saw,
and grindstones and linishers We also have a small library of books
on woodturning and woodworking and these are available for loan to members
on a monthly basis.
